The central government appoints the chairman and members of UIDAI The Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology under the Government of India has issued a notification to appoint the Chairman and Members of UIDAI.
The notification states, “In exercise of the powers conferred by section 12 read with section 14(1) of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016), the Central Government, hereby two Appoints officers.

i Shri Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist, Axis Bank and Head of Global Research, Axis Capital as part-time Chairman Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI); and,
ii Prof. Mausam, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, IIT Delhi and Mr. Nilesh Shah, Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Limited, as part-time members of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
The Chairman and members appointed under this Act shall hold office for a period of three years from the date on which they hold office or until the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier.

Neelkanth Mishra, chief economist at Axis Bank and head of global research at Axis Capital, has been appointed as the part-time chairman of the Aadhaar-issuing body Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
The Chairman and members appointed under the Aadhaar Act shall hold office for three years or sixty-five years, whichever is earlier.
“…The Central Government, hereby… appoints Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist, Axis Bank and Head of Global Research, Axis Capital as part-time Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)…,” it said.
The government has appointed “Prof Mausam, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, IIT Delhi and… Nilesh Shah, Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Limited as part-time members of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)”.
